Highs

Highlight of the year has probably already happened - I became an Aunty to a little girl this month! A beautiful little chubby-cheeked girl called Lilly. She made a kissy face back at me so I am pretty sure we are best friends now? Michael and I went away to the coast for the weekend which was really nice. It wasn’t the best weather but we still got a few beach walks in, a few margaritas and hot chips so I can’t complain. I found some amazing glassware bits and pieces at my local op shop and it all came in under $25 for the lot. I ran into a friend that I’ve had since the age of 4, said we should catch up and actually did. Nothing beats having friends that feel like no time has passed even though it has been years.

I did a lot of personal design work in any spare moment I had this month. Drawing letterforms has always been something that calms me so it was nice to get back into doing that more often. Survivor came back to TV. I got my favourite sunglasses fixed so they are back in action! The sun came out enough for me to complete all of my work. I bought the most beautiful flowers for a shoot which has been brightening my day. Overall, a high was just getting through this month - but more on that in the lows.

Lows

I am not going to lie, this month was really tough personally for me. I would say that I have low levels of anxiety that I manage usually but I definitely had it flare up quite significantly recently. One thing that triggers it is a lack of control and my eagerness to please so there were a couple of weeks of it being pretty relentless. I would love to say that it was particular situations that caused it but I believe that it is probably more my reactions and thought process that is the issue so I have been really trying to work on slowing that down to see if that helps. If anyone else spoke to me about these things I would never judge or think they are incapable of their jobs but I definitely have been feeling a bit of shame and disappointment in myself. I hadn’t wanted to get on Stories and chat like I normally would, worried that clients wouldn’t want to work with me or thinking I couldn’t handle my work. I guess it could be the perception of weakness that worries me. I also ran out of my favourite Nespresso flat white over ice capsule. Priorities.

What I bought this month

I made a big purchase this month which hasn’t arrived yet. After months of researching and looking at different couches we finally decided on one. These bigger purchases always freak me out but I really love this couch and for me who spends 95% of my time at home, I should be spending my money on it. All my homeware loves can be found on The Lifestyle Edit

You would know that Marle was on at the top of my favourite brands/stores of 2019 and I think we are going to repeat that for 2020. I was lucky enough to be gifted items this time around but no doubt there will be hard earned money spent next month on some other pieces I am eyeing off. Two tops that I got may just push my t-shirts off rotation. The Cooper Top fulfils all of my texture & puffy sleeve dreams. The Carol Top was something that I love so much I think I may need it in an extra colour. It is 100% silk long sleeve with a deep cowl neck on the back - so fucking divine. What I read this month

This month I finished Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid. I am not someone who normally gravitates to a fiction book but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a super interesting modern story involving race and privilege that had me having to make myself slow down. Given the opportunity I think it is a book I would have powered through over a weekend. If any of you wanted to give it a read & live in Australia, send me a DM on Instagram as I would love to pass it along. Edit. Sorry this has already been snapped up but since it was so popular I will start doing this with more of my already read books.
